Akua in the Natur’all
by Sareen Equality
(for my God sisters)
So, She began flying, drifting in spaces absent of light,
a nebulous void, abundant of love,
filled to the brim with an acceptance
that She found absent in her origin.
Unaware that She would be
going a great distance in the tender space, She
fluttered through a serene unconsciousness.
And as She flew, shadow matter pursued her, softly
stalking, a subtle wait to begin the process of a rebirth.
Silhouette of dusk surrounded her, seeping
deep to her bones, encasing the form’s finger tips,
coating the body smoothly until finishing at nose.
Pure raven from crown to sole.
And so, when She woke, her eyes had gone
from coal to warm gold,
revealing an efflorescent land concealed by her vacant realm,
saturated with centuries of her ancestors
All of which who have undergone a transformation.
Onyx skin glistening
Aureate eyes gazing
back
at her.
